TURKEY HARVESTING

Each year, in the two days just prior to Thanksgiving we have our Turkey Harvest Fest.  It is in these two days that we harvest the Thanksgiving turkeys for you, our customers.  There are a few days of prep that are required prior to the event.  Our Harvest Fest is a lot of hard work, but a time we look forward to spending with family and friends.  We have a very dedicated crew of family and a few friends that like to pitch in and participate.  For us, the turkey harvest represents the conclusion of a year of hard work.  We would have been raising the turkeys from day old poults beginning in late May.  Even after we have finished harvesting the turkeys; we have our own family meal to prepare for which the Farm Hand and resident chef is famous for.  Our Thanksgiving weekend culminates in a giant bonfire (which we have been building up all year) with family.  We are always delighted to meet our friends, our regular turkey customers, as well as our new ones each year.  The harvest is accompanied by morning donuts, hot cider, home brewed beer, and other adult beverages, homemade stew and chowder.  We start a small bonfire when we commence at about 8 am and keep it going all day...we are out at the barn from sun-up to sundown on harvest days and usually don’t kick off the last pair of boots until well after the dinner hour.
