Our small herd of Pure Spanish goats consists of 2 bucks, “Butters”  and “Thistle” as well as 21 young does who are most often referred to by the last couple numbers on their ear tags.  (greeting doe 9025 might go something like, “hey there 25.”)
The young does have been bred and we are expecting kids any day now.  (throughout the month of May)
Our herd is young.  Their horns are still growing, they are still growing and filling out.  Now that spring has come the fuzzy white undercoating has shed out, or still currently is in the case of a few of the ladies.   The Does are up in the field near the barn whilst they await their new arrivals.   Meanwhile; Butters keeps company with Dr. Cornelius (a Nigerian dwarf wether), Shaun the Sheep, Big Boy Grin the Ram, and Wally Jr. our other ram.  Pure Spanish goats are on the Watch list with the ALBC (American Livestock Breeds Conservancy) and have become rare in part due to being crossed with other meat goat breeds in order to enhance meat production.  It has been largely due the efforts of a few breeders across the United States that have continued to breed pure Spanish goats that the breed has survived as a “pure” breed of goat.  They are well known for their heartiness and are also referred to as brush goats, wood goats, briar goats, and hill goats and easily thrive on brush and weeds.  Our hope is that not only will they add some nice diversity to the farm, but may do the job we need of weed control...particularly when the summer weeds arrive.  To contact us about stock available for sale please email
