Shifts
We are getting Eowin ready for her departure with proper paperwork to leave the country. She will leave Labor Day weekend. Boo’s baby is due anytime between Aug 31 and October 5...by the looks of her it will be sooner rather than later. When the few open mares were put back with Joe for a brief period of time last Autumn; Joe saw to Boo’s needs right away so this matches up with her physical state at the moment. After Eowin’s departure; Horatius will be brought up to the barn for weaning. His weaning buddy will be Boo; while she is now resident at the barn awaiting the arrival of her foal.
Horatius’ mum; Fortuna will join Ginger to keep her company. Speaking of Ginger...after much waiting and mystery; Ginger is finally starting to bag up. She will be having her foal this autumn as well. Joe and Indy (who is due to foal in the spring) will shack up together over the winter. This will put the BHF girls (Boo, Fortuna and Indy) back on schedule for spring foals.
The turkeys are now being let loose outside during the day. It seems like it has been a long time coming and I still have their stall to clean up.... which is mentally near the top of my list but hard to find the motivation to do it. Perhaps Monday!
