Cleveland Bay Horses

ABOUT OUR HORSES.  Bay Haven Farm is a unique Cleveland Bay Horse stud farm here in he United States in that our to resident stallions; Joe and Fusi each live out with their own brood  of mares and their foals.  It is incredibly interesting to watch and observe the behaviors and dynamics of the herd.  Living in such a way has given way to high conception rates, very happy stallions, and foals growing up learning how to live in a family unit.  When possible (meaning weather permitting), we let the mares foal out in the field with the rest of the family.  The foal grows up as part of this unique equine family unit.  I
could easily park a lawn chair and watch them for hours.  The mares share ‘babysitting’ duties; and often, ‘babysitting’ mares (who have a foal at foot themselves) will allow the other mares’ foal to nurse from them; especially when their mum is at the complete other end of their 20-something acre field. 


Currently, Bay Haven Farm is home to six (6) pure bred Cleveland Bay Horses and three (3) Thoroughbred mares.  Tregoyd Journeyman is Quality Approved, Premium Rated, multiple Champion Cleveland Bay stallion.  Joe (as he is affectionately known) was bred and raised by Colin and Margaret Green at Trenewydd Farm in Wales.  Joe is a remarkable stallion with valuable bloodlines.  He is an excellent representation of the Cleveland Bay Breed.  We imported Joe to the United States in October of 2004 expecting him to do great things here in the United States.  In true Joe fashion he has exceeded all of our expectations.  He was sought out by Breyer Animal Creations to represent the Breed by using Joe and his name as the likeness for the Cleveland Bay Breyer Model.  To promote the release of the model we spent a handful of days in Lexington, KY during the steamy summer with Joe at their annual BreyerFest.  Joe did daily demos and posed and was available for photos with the general public. 


Our second resident stallion is Knaresborough Fusililer.  Fusi is here with us on lease arrangement and has been with us since mid 2010.  We are grateful to his family up in Wisconsin at Emerald Hill Farm for sharing their wonderful stallion with us.  Fusi, like Joe is a Quality Approved Premium Rated pure bred Cleveland Bay stallion.  Fusi was imported as an adult from the the Knaresborough Stud, UK.   Fusi is a rare band C stallion whose bloodlines offer an excellent counter balance to the others we have here on the farm.
